I know it was not my fault
but I didn’t catch the fall either
and so \u2013
here you and I are, shattered porcelain
in the white gravel of a stranger’s driveway<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will salvage some of the bigger pieces;
leave smaller fragments in the dust.
I offer up some of my edges to yours \u2013
could this sharp corner,
here,
form part of that straight line? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now we cling to one another,
our reassembled surface
not altogether smooth \u2013
dust and earth got swept up with us,
buried in our grooves.
The cold, blunt stone that first made impact,
is part of us now too.
We’re no less fragile than we were before
but our sense of direction is new.
This togetherness, moving as one:
